Harbor Privacy Policy
Effective date:
Harbor is an iPhone web browser provided by Arjuna Kankipati (“we”).
Harbor stores its browsing records locally on your device, subject to the backup behavior described below. Harbor does not automatically transmit your browsing history to us, and we do not operate a browsing-data collection or synchronization service. If you voluntarily include browsing information in a support message or beta feedback, we receive the information you provide.
Information stored on your device
Harbor stores tabs, browsing history, bookmarks, profiles, preferences, site-specific settings, and activity timestamps to support browsing, restore sessions, and manage profile switching.
Harbor also saves page-preview images for the tab switcher. These images may include information visible on the page. Downloads are temporarily stored on your device.
Websites may store cookies, cached content, and other website data through Apple’s WebKit browser engine.
Harbor does not require a Harbor account and contains no analytics, advertising, telemetry, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs. We do not sell your personal information or use your browsing activity for advertising.
Websites and search engines
When you visit a website or perform a search, your device connects to that website or your selected search provider. These services, and services embedded in websites, may receive your IP address, search terms, browser information, and information you submit. Their privacy policies govern how they use that information.
Harbor includes tracker blocking and tracking-parameter removal, but these features cannot prevent all tracking. Harbor does not provide a VPN or guarantee anonymous browsing.
Permissions and profile protection
Websites may request access to your camera or microphone, subject to iOS and WebKit permission controls. Harbor does not independently record camera or microphone content. Files you choose to upload are sent to the website you select. You can manage Harbor’s camera and microphone permissions in iOS Settings.
If you enable profile protection, Harbor uses Apple’s device authentication system. Harbor does not receive or store your biometric data or device passcode.
Profile protection controls access within Harbor using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Anyone able to authenticate as the device owner can unlock protected profiles. This feature does not separately encrypt each profile’s data.
Apple diagnostics and beta testing
Apple may collect diagnostic and usage information under its own privacy policies and applicable sharing settings, and may make reports available to us through its developer tools.
We receive crash reports through Apple’s App Store reporting tools when you opt in to sharing diagnostic information with app developers. We use these reports to investigate crashes and improve Harbor’s reliability. Any copies we download are retained for 7 days after download. Reports maintained by Apple are subject to Apple’s retention practices.
For App Store installations, you can manage diagnostic sharing in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share With App Developers. Changing this setting does not delete reports previously shared.
If you use a TestFlight beta version of Harbor, TestFlight automatically shares crash reports with developers, regardless of your device’s diagnostic-sharing settings. Feedback you submit through TestFlight may also be made available to us.
Storage, backups, and deletion
Retention depends on the type of information. History is limited to 3,000 entries per profile. Temporary downloads and page previews may be removed automatically during normal app operation. Websites and WebKit may also expire or remove website data.
You can delete history and bookmarks, remove website data, or delete profiles using Harbor’s controls.
Clearing all browsing data for a profile closes its existing tabs and removes its history, saved page previews, cookies, cache, website storage, and temporary downloads. Active downloads are cancelled. Bookmarks, preferences, and site exceptions remain and can be managed separately or removed by deleting the profile.
Clearing data for an individual website may also affect related subdomains because WebKit groups some website storage by domain. Deleting information in Harbor does not delete information already received by websites or search providers.
Profile information, bookmarks, preferences, and site-specific settings may be included in device backups. Harbor marks its saved tabs, browsing history, page-preview images, and activity timestamps as excluded from backups. Older backups may still contain browsing information. Website cookies and storage are managed by WebKit.
Files you save or share outside Harbor, and device backups, must be managed separately. We cannot remotely access or delete Harbor’s locally stored browsing records.
Support correspondence
If you contact us, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments you provide. We use this information to respond and troubleshoot. Our email service provider, Google Workspace, processes this correspondence to provide email services.
Please avoid sending passwords or sensitive browsing information.
We delete support correspondence, including attachments, every 30 days. You can request deletion by contacting harbor@arjunakankipati.com, subject to any applicable legal retention requirements.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Harbor changes. The effective date above will identify the latest version.
